Rivlin: Lapid a Serious Candidate for Prime Minister

Former Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin complimented Finance Minister Yair Lapid, Monday morning, telling the Ma'ariv daily, "I see in him the serious potential to be a prime minister of Israel."

The Likud lawmaker added, referring to Lapid's Yesh Atid party and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Likud party, which finished on top by virtue of its merger with Yisrael Beyteinu, "This is not something theoretical. He [Lapid] has 19 seats and the prime minister has 20 mandates. Imagine that one of them passes from the prime minister to Lapid, and then Lapid already has 20 seats and the prime minister has 19."
