A group calling itself the "hareidi community" put out a letter, Sunday, calling for an anti-induction demonstration, Thursday evening at 7:00, opposite the induction office on Rashi Street in Jerusalem and surrounding streets. The letter said the group was not going to wait for the leaders of the hareidi community to demonstrate against what it called an "army which is invalid and forbidden in principle." The letter bewails what it called stopping Torah learning and the introduction of foreign elements into hareidi education.
Rabbis Shmuel Wasner and Shmuel Auerbach responded favorably to the letter. As of Sunday evening, there was no indication that the mainstream hareidi community would take part.
