Poll: Small Majority in Favor of Women of the Wall

A recent poll commissioned by the Israeli Institute for Democracy indicated some 48% of the population support the wishes of Women of the Wall to conduct egalitarian services at the Kotel, while 38% oppose. Primary components of the majority are first-or-second generation Israelis and US immigrants, while the majority of the opposition is comprised of Sephardic Jews and Russian immigrants. Some poll participants considered the recent court ruling in favor of the Women of the Wall an approbation, motivating them to reconsider their original opposition.
