MK Shaffir: Go Out and Protest on Saturday Night

MK Stav Shaffir (Labor), one of the leaders of the social protests of the summer of 2011, issued a call on Thursday to Israelis who oppose the proposed budget to protest on Saturday night. Shaffir called her colleagues from the opposition to join the public outcry against the irresponsible budget introduced by the government.

“The protests being organized for Saturday night are a boost for Israeli society,” said Shaffir. “They prove that the public, which sees over and over again how the government and the Treasury are tricking it, is just not ready to give up. Lapid’s budget is Netanyahu’s budget, only with a smile that is more photogenic. An irresponsible budget which continues the economic policies that led us to the biggest deficit we have had in decades. A budget which hurts the middle class, the weaker populations, and the male and female workers.”
