A pickup truck fired birdshot pellets towards Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil's convoy as it was passing through Cairo on his way home on Sunday night.
The website of the Al-Ahram newspaper reported that five men were arrested over the incident and that an investigation revealed that they were on their way to a street fight in Cairo when Qandil’s convoy crossed their way.
A security car accompanying the Prime Minister tried to stop the pickup truck when it came in the way of the convoy, when the pellets were shot. In response, security officers shot several rounds in the air. No one was hurt.
