Aharonovich: No Public Transportation Crisis at Meron

Interior DM Yitzchak Aharonovich responded to the urgent query of MK Yaakov Asher (UTJ) Tuesday, and told the Knesset, "There were an unprecedented 450,000 worshippers at Meron this year, the most I have seen in 30 years, and the celebrations were a total success."

Aharonovich added, "Despite the narrow dimensions and crowding of the tomb compound, there were no injuries. People were prevented by police from setting up flammable tents, and opted to return home after a delay of no more than 2-3 hours while waiting for their bus. There may have been a delay, but by no means did the public transportation system network collapse."
