Chairman Avi Dichter of the Welfare Fund for Holocaust Survivors asked, Monday, how can the survivors be given dignity while they are still alive. Engaging in a Hebrew word play during a hearing of the Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee on improving conditions for the survivors, he said "There will come a time when the matter will die instead of being solved. In ten years we will have a small number of Holocaust survivors to take care of."

Dichter concluded with another play on words that "If we don't act on the matter of [compensation for] Holocaust survivors, we won't be able to compensate ourselves," which could also be translated, "We won't be able to speak for ourselves."
