The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday-morning trading with modest to moderate gains. About 40 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,076.16, up .26 percent, while the TA 100 rose .27 percent to 1,076.13, including a .23-percent gain to 1,199.54 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The same percentage increase meant a posting of 926.49 for the stocks outside the TA 100.
Leading the way was the communications index, which climbed 1.69 percent to 566.05, followed by the biomed issues, which stood at 864.78, up .51 percent, while the rest of the technology stocks advanced an average of .35 percent to 304.83. The insurance index stood at 1,277.82, up half a percent, as the financial institutions rose .41 percent to 1,084.89, including a four-tenths of a percent hike to 1,133.97 by the bank issues. The real-estate stocks stood at 332.64, up .37 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index edged up .12 percent to 1,113.94.
