The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed the holiday-shortened trading week, Thursday, with modest to moderate losses on most of the indices. The TA Composite Index ended the day at 1,073.52, down 1.08 percent, while the TA 100 declined 1.1 percent to 1,074.03, including a 1.22-percent drop to 1,203.74 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 lost .96 percent to 915.72.
The lone bright spot was corporate bond index, which rose .05 percent to 300.65. Worst hit were the financial institutions, which finished the day at 1,074.09, down 1.62 percent; the banking component dropping 1.41 percent to 1,112.65 while the insurance issues stood at 1,282.58, down 1.32 percent. The oil and natural-gas stocks fell 1.39 percent to 1,119.49, while the communications index stood at 565.33, down one and a quarter percent. Most of the technology issues declined 1.24 percent to 308.72 while the biomed issues stood at 822.67, down 1.07 percent, and the real-estate stocks lost three quarters of a percent to 326.17.
