Syrian Rebels Calls on Lebanese Gov't to Stop Hizbullah

Syria's main opposition National Coalition called on the Lebanese government, Monday "to exert control over its borders and put an immediate stop to Hezbollah's military operations in Syrian territory," according to Lebanon's The Daily Star. The newspaper cited a statement which also said, "We call upon the Lebanese government to take action against Hezbollah's aggressions and do everything within their means to ensure the safety of the innocent civilians on the Syrian-Lebanese frontier."

While the Beirut government has been reluctant to blame government or rebel forces, it said it would send a letter of protest to the Arab League about the spillover of fire from Syria onto Lebanese territory. The National Coalition statement, issued after the Lebanese letter, accused Hizbullah of targeting and taking control of Syrian border villages.
