The Honenu legal-aid organization reported, Friday, that an off-duty reservist who was arrested Thursday on suspicion of threatening Arabs with his personal weapon was released without restrictions following questioning. The soldier was detained for questioning after he ran after Arabs who were ripping Israeli flags off cars parked in the lot for the tomb of Samuel the Prophet, northwest of Jerusalem. An Arab guard called police.
Honenu complained that no Arabs were arrested as a result of the incident. A Honenu statement read, "It's a pity that on the eve of the day that is supposed to symbolize the state's independence, a bleak picture emerges in which an IDF soldier is charged automatically while an Arab outlaw has immunity from enforcement of the law against him."
