The ball for resuming peace negotiations is in the Palestinian Authority’s court, Water and Energy Minister Silvan Shalom said on Tuesday.
Speaking during a meeting with the Cypriot Foreign Minister and the country’s Energy, Commerce and Tourism Minister, Shalom said, “Israel wants peace with its neighbors, but to this day the Palestinians have placed every obstacle possible and have prevented the opening of negotiations without preconditions. I hope the appointment of John Kerry as Secretary of State will give a boost to the possibility that the negotiations will resume. President Obama and Secretary Kerry are determined to resume the negotiations, and Israel is ready to respond to their request and return to negotiations immediately and without preconditions. The ball is on the Palestinian side.”
