The Lod District Court ruled, Tuesday morning, that Ofer Gamliel of Bat Ayin will not be released with a third of his sentence remaining, contrary to the decision of a parole board. Gamliel was convicted in 2003 for his part in a plot to blow up an Arab school in Jerusalem.
The ruling came in the state's appeal of the parole-board decision. The court based its decision on Gamliel not undergoing enough rehabilitative treatment during his time in jail. It ordered Gamliel to be brought before the parole board again, after he undergoes the treatment. The Honenu legal-aid organization said it would appeal the district court decision to the Supreme Court.
