Education Minister Shai Piron made his first direct contract as minister with hareidi-religious institutions, Thursday, travelling to the Beit Ya'akov Institute for Teachers in Jerusalem. Addressing staff and students, Rabbi Piron made it clear that the Torah is an important value and will continue to be an important value, not only in the hareidi sector but also in the general population. He said there is a need to aspire to all educators viewing Torah as a source for moral, educational and social inspiration in the light of these values.
The minister added that if changes to the system are made to the hareidi educational system, they will be made through dialog with representatives of the hareidi sector. He continued, "Despite the disagreements, every effort will be made to reach an agreed-upon solution."
