Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat participated in a public Mimouna celebration Monday evening. " More and more communities celebrate Mimouna together. This is a holiday that unites us all. When the people of Israel consolidate, [obstacles are] impossible to overcome... we will continue to respect each other while building the city of Jerusalem."
The event was held at the Zoher Avarham synagogue in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of the capital. Also in attendance were Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Dr. Yaakov Hadani and others. The word Mimouna is etymologically similar to the Hebrew word Emuna, meaning faith. It is celebrated after the end of Passover.
