Stanley Fischer submitted his last annual report as Governor of the Bank of Israel to President Shim'on Peres on Tuesday. Fischer will step down on June 30th.
In presenting the principal points of the review of the bank's activity in 2012 and the economic goals for the coming year, Professor Fischer said, "The report describes an economy that was good in 2012, but not as good as in the past. We grew relatively quickly at a rate of 3.1 percent. My colleagues from abroad would be very pleased with that growth rate and do not understand why we are disappointed, but we got used to a faster pace."
