Shephela Police Learn Arabic and Muslim Customs

A class has opened in the Shephelah District of the Israel Police to teach Arabic as well as Muslim customs and lifestyle so as to deepen officers' familiarity with the Muslim population and its mentality in the cities of Ramle and Lod. Muslims represent about 30 percent of the population in those cities.

Nawal Abu-Amar volunteered for the task, and taught 25 officers conversational Arabic and exposed them to Muslim customs and mentality. District Commander Shim'on Ben Harush welcomed the process, saying it would bring the police closer to the Muslim population and increase their professionalism.
