Astronaut Chris Hedfield has become the first Canadian to assume command of the International Space Station. According to the Canadian Space Agency, it is “A historical landmark for Canada.”

As commander, Hedfield will be responsible for over 100 scientific experiments, as well  as for the welfare of station personnel.
