Meretz Chariwoman Zehava Gal-On on Tuesday expressed opposition to a proposed coalition agreement which would increase the threshold for a party's entrance into the Knesset to 4%, meaning that in the current Knesset no parties with fewer than 5 MKs would have made it past the threshold.
"the new politics is an expression of the old tyranny, trying to take away from the minorities the chance to grow and become a majority," Gal-On said.
"Meretz opposed and opposes raising the threshold. The threshold of 2.5 seats is high enough. Moreover, such a step would prevent the representation of different sectors of Israeli society."
