Rabies Warning in the Jordan Valley

A black puppy born to a stray dog in the industrial zone of the Jordan Valley community of Petzael, which died, Tuesday, in quarantine, was infected with rabies, according to test results received Thursday by the Institute of Veterinary Medicine in Beit Dagan. The Health Ministry said anyone who may have been in contact with the puppy to contact the nearest health office or hospital emergency room to receive rabies treatment.

The ministry also reminded the public that in case of an animal bite or scratch, one should imediately wash the wounded area with soap and running water, apply disinfectants and contact a health office or hospital emergency room to see if rabies treatment is necessary.
