Shekel Down; Yen, Rand Jump; Pound Outpaces Dollar

The official value of the shekel declined by an average of .134 percent, Friday, against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.684, up .109 percent from Thursday's rate, while the Euro edged up .051 percent to 4.9101 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.7194, up .191 percent, while 100 Japanese yen jumped 1.172 percent to 3.988 shekels. The Australian dollar was fixed at 3.816 shekels, up .26 percent, while its Canadian counterpart advanced .044 percent to NIS 3.6776, and the South African Rand was set at .4186 shekels, up 1.209 percent.
