Shas Demands Displayed on Der'i's Facebook Page

Senior member Aryeh Der'i of the Sephardic hareidi-religious Shas party presented the party's basic demands for entering the new government, Thursday afternoon. Writing on his Facebook page, Der'i said the top priority was for a "preliminary state budget" to insure a minimum of harm to the weak sectors of society, followed by an arrangement for drafting yeshiva students according to "a formula agreed upon by the general population", emphasizing that the "general population means religious and secular Jews as well as Arabs.

Given that it appears that Shas won't retain leadership of the Office of Religious Services, the party made it clear that the office should be led by a party that promises not to change the status quo regarding religion and state.
