Rabbi Mordechai Piron, the second chief rabbi in the history of the Israel Defense Forces, said, Thursday, that the IDF is capable of absorbing young hareidi youth. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, he continued, "It's not an easy mission, but the IDF has started it." Rabbi Piron stressed, "without causing a rift in the people and [without] the people feeling theyr'e being persecuted."
The rabbi said, "We are facing the most serious security problems and everyone should take part in the mission, which is important to the existence of Israel. There is no other country which is in danger as daily as Israel." He also said, "There are many youth in the hareidi sector who do not study Torah and they must enlist. Those who do study Torah must find a special arrangement."
