Rabbi Ya'akov Blau of the Sanhedria neighborhood of Jerusalem passed away Monday. His funeral procession left the neighborhood between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. en route to the Har Hamenuchot Cemetery.
Rabbi Blau was born in Jerusalem in the 1920s, the son of Rabbi Baruch Yehuda Halevi Blau and the grandson of Rabbi Moshe Blau of the Po'alei Agudat Yisrael community. In the 1990s, he was named to the Beit Din of the hareidi community. He also served as head of the community's kashrut committee and dealt a lot in civil law. He is survived by three sons.
