MK Einat Wilf, head of the Knesset’s Education Committee, responded Sunday to an incident in which a parent hit a teacher in Hod Hasharon. “The incident in which a teacher was attacked by a parent who mistakenly thought he was helping his child was a serious case that reflects a wider phenomenon,” she said. Just a handful of violent parents can “make life hell” for a school’s staff, she noted.
The Education Ministry immediately backed the teacher. The ministry’s response was fitting, Wilf said, “But this incident must be used to set a clear, unequivocal role for parents in the school system, for everyone’s benefit.”
