Poll: Israelis Confused between ‘Greens,’ ‘Green Leaf’

Over 80% of Israelis do not know the difference between the environmentalist Green Party (Hayerokim) and Aleh Yarok (lit. Green Leaf), a party that favors smaller government and the legalization of marijuana, according to a new survey.

The poll was conducted by Geocartographia on behalf of the Green Party following several reports from activists of incidents in which, while attempting to spread the party’s message, they were attacked for supporting drug use.

“The Green Party has been around for 16 years,” said party head Attorney Amir Meltzer. “We are opposed to unrestricted drug use, and support drug use for medical purposes only. We promote sustainability and environmentalism for our children’s sakes.”
