Electric Company: Emergency Calls Only

The Israel Electric Company said, Monday morning, that its 103 telephone switchboard  was only taking calls about disruptions in service and downed power lines caused by the stormy conditions. The utility, which has been on alert for a few days, is working as fast as possible to restore power where strong winds have brought down lines or have caused trees and other objects to bring down the wires and asked the public to secure things that could bring down lines if they have not already done so.

The public was also asked to report downed or torn wires immediately to the electric company or the police but to stay away from them due to the risk of electrocution.
