Mayor Yael German of Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv, submitted a letter of resignation to Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Sunday, citing her candidacy in this month's Knesset election on the list of the Yesh Atid party.

German's resignation becomes effective on Tuesday, when the Herzliya City Council is scheduled to select an acting mayor to serve the rest of her term, until local elections, scheduled for October.
