The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced, Thursday, that 84,000 people fled war-torn Syria during December. The number of refugees now stands at half a million.
With 150,000 refugees on its side of the border, Turkey led the way, followed by Lebanon (130,000) and Jordan (120,000). Another 68,000 fled to Iraq. The UN puts the death toll in nearly two years of violence at nearly 60,000.
