Chief Rabbis Urge Europe to Monitor Anti-Semitism

The Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger and Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, penned a letter to European Council President, Herman Van Rompuy, urging him to establish a special committee to study anti-Semitism in Europe.

The letter was sent following the lynching of a Jewish youth in Venice last night.

"This serious incident joins a series of events from the past year, which may indicate a trend toward an increase in the prevalence of anti-Semitism throughout Europe," the rabbis wrote, noting that "since the terrible massacre in Toulouse we often hear about violence directed against Jews in Europe."
