Efforts to Get Hizbullah Recognized in EU as Terror Org

Israel has made special efforts in recent weeks to put Hizbullah on the European Union's list of terror organizations, according to a Monday-morning report by the Ma'ariv daily. The efforts stem from the desire to isolate the Shi'ite faction and weaken it in Lebanon as the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad weakens.

The United States, Canada and Great Britain support the move while France is sharply opposed and the EU can't reach a decision with a 27-member consensus. France is concerned that such a move could damage the fragile political stability in Lebanon and lead to an escalation in tensions, which have seen fighting in recent lines along lines of support or opposition to Assad.
