Dozens of activists from the Islamic Movement of Israel and the predominantly-Arab Balad National Democratic Assembly (Al-Tajamu' Al-Watani Al-Dimuqrati in Arabic) party demonstrated, Friday, against what they called the "Jewish takeover of Lod," southeast of Tel Aviv. Aharon Attias, one of the leaders of the Torah core group in Lod, told Arutz Sheva that the Arabs were waving Palestine Liberation Organization flags and yelling racist slogans against the Jews in the Torah core group's Ramot neighborhood. He added that one of the participants was Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement's Northern Chapter, who was inciting the Arabs against the Torah core group
Attias said special police forces and Border Guards were preventing Jews from responding with a counter-demonstration. He conceded that the police were there to make sure the demonstrations did not become violent.
