Volunteers To Monitor Litter, Garbage on Election Day

Some governmental bodies are not as interested in preventing dirty politics as they are dirty street corners on election day. The Council for a Beautiful Israel is teaming up with the Central Election Commission to ensure litter does not proliferate. Elections means a marked increase in leaflets, flyers, stickers, banners and other promotional material that often ends up discarded on the streets or blowing in the wind to end up in parks. This is especially true in the greater Jerusalem region where the hills and valleys combined with the high wind can easily blow trash down the street. Volunteers will patrol neighborhoods to ensure maintenance and cleanliness. Elections are scheduled for January 22nd.
