Envoy to Syria Considering Quitting

Lebanese media reported, Thursday, that Lakhdar Brahimi, the United Nations and Arab League envoy to Syria, told authorities in Washington and Moscow, recently, that he is considering stepping down.

The Algerian diplomat has reportedly had enough of the lack of cooperation he is receiving from the Syrian government, including President Bashar Al-Assad's avoiding meetings with him. The As-Sapir daily reported that Brahimi demanded that Russia press Al-Assad to meet with him as soon as possible, and if it doesn't happen Brahimi will announce his resignation.
