A senior commander in the Syrian rebel army announced on Sunday night that his forces were launching an operation to take over the city of Hama.
According to the commander, his soldiers received orders to surround and attack checkpoints around Hama. He added that "the armed forces loyal to President Bashar Al-Assad who will be found at these checkpoints will have a 48 hour ultimatum to surrender."
