Man Indicted in ‘Honor’ Murder

Ahmed Elassam, 24, of Tel Sheva, has been indicted for the murder of his 16-year-old sister Aisha. The murder was a “family honor” killing, a crime in which victims are killed due to behavior perceived as immoral in order to “cleanse” a family’s reputation.

Aisha had left her family home with a boyfriend and gone to the city of Taibe. She returned after her family asked her to come back.

Ahmed Elassam called police and admitted to the murder immediately after the slaying.
