Israel and the Palestinian Authority will resume negotiations with talks in Jordan, according to the London-based Arabic news outlet Al-Hayyat. The report cited senior Jordanian officials who said Jordan’s King Abdullah had revealed the plans to talk.

The talks are reportedly scheduled to begin in February. King Abdullah is reported to have predicted that the United States will begin to focus on diplomacy, including its efforts to push a peace deal between Israel and the PA.

Israel’s national elections are scheduled for late January, meaning February talks would take place under the next administration. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to be re-elected.
