Labor and Yesh Atid Sign Surplus-Vote Agreement

The Labor and Yesh Atid parties signed a surplus-vote Agreement on Monday. The agreement specifies that the total number of votes they receive in the January Knesset election will be proportionally divided in determining the number of seats they receive, based on the size of the parties.

Channel 2 News reports that the Likud party picked up two seats in 2003 as a result of such an agreement. Meretz, which lost a seat to Labor in the last elections because of such an agreement, said that Labor leader Shelly Yechimovich "will lead Labor to the dangerous Bibi [Binyamin Netanyahu] and [Avigdor] Lieberman government."
