The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange began the trading week, Sunday, with moderate to sharp gains in higher-than-average trading, given the predominantly domestic nature of trading on Sundays. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,076.59, up 1.55 percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,084.59 for the TA 100, including a 1.33-percent advance to 1,227.17 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks outside the TA 100 jumped 2.06 percent to 406.20.
The same percentage meant a 1,123.10 close for the bank index as the financial institutions led the way with a 2.19-percent gain to 1,019.06, including a 1.99-percent advance to 1,092.39 by the insurance issues. The biomed stocks finished the day at 801.71, up 2.16 percent, while the rest of the technology index climbed 1.8 percent to 350.24, followed by the real-estate index, which closed at 294.24, up 1.76 percent. The Ma'ala organization's list of socially responsible companies rose 1.7 percent to 864.46, while the oil and natural-gas issues finished the day at 1,125.96, up 1.59 percent. The communications and media stocks advanced .51 percent to 544.18.
