National Union Meets to Pick Knesset List

Members of the Tekumah faction of the Ichud Le'umi (National Union) party convened in Jerusalem, Sunday evening, to select the party's candidates for January's scheduled Knesset election. Among the candidates are Chairman Ya'akov Katz and fellow incumbent Knesset member Uri Ariel, Orit Strook of the Human Rights Organization of Judea and Samaria, Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan and Sderot Mayor David Buskila.

MK Ariel told Arutz Sheva at the start of the meeting that the candidates chosen, Sunday evening, would be presented to Chairman Naftali Bennett of the Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) to finalize consolidation of the two parties' lists. Uriel expressed hope that former National Union Knesset members Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari would rejoin the fold, but conceded the chances were waning, lamenting what he called "a rightist list that will throw away votes and not pass the percentage threshhold."
