Haifa University President Suspends Public Activities

President Amos Shapiro of Haifa University announced, Sunday, the suspension of public activities on the university campus for two weeks. Shapiro said, "The objective of the university is teaching and academic research, while maintaining the security of the students and the university community. Due to the situation in the country and recent events at the University, and to prevent extremist elements from exploiting the situation to create provocations and confrontations, I have decided to stop public activity on campus for a limited period."
