The Chairman of the Independence Party's response team, MK Dr. Einat Wilf, attacked Labor Party Chairman Shelly Yachimovich for her comments at a conference Wednesday night dinner in regards to the split between Labor and Independence.
"The Independence Party is the true successor to the historical Labor Party and to the path of Ben Gurion," said Wilf. "It is actually the members of Shelly's (Yachimovich) party, including the chairwoman herself, who have acted subversively against the party. The party's decisions and the actions of the chairwoman left us no choice but to split the party in order to continue its ways."
Yachimovich responded by saying, "attempts to forget the real reasons for the split will not work. Personally, I was elected on the national list and my support for the party comes from the feeling that the Labor Party has departed from its roots."
