Social Justice Activists Enter Knesset Race

The Social Justice Party, comprised of social activists who put together the social protests of recent years, announced, Monday, that the activists are running for Knesset. The party is led by Chairman Gad Haran of the Social Coalition, Jackie Edri - leader of the workers' struggle at the Dead Sea Works and attorney Yael Segal-Maklis, who leads civil and legal fights for equality rights for weak sectors of the population and prevention of racism.

A statement by the party said, "It's time to find an alternative to aloof politicians who have failed and to put the people into the Knesset." Referring to a number of cases of self-immolation, the statement continued, "When people in Israel burn themselves out of economic despair and thousands of families are thrown into the street for lack of ability to deal with the housing problem, it's a social emergency."
