It's Official: Shamalov to Likud

Member of Knesset Yulia Shamalov-Berkovich met with Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu of the Likud party, Sunday, and informed him of her intent to run for the Knesset on the party's list in the January elections, calling her decision an expression of complete faith in Netanyahu's ability as prime minister to lead on the security and economic fronts. Shamalov-Berkovich submitted her resignation from the Kadima party last week, telling the nrg Website that it was no secret she was headed to the Likud.

Netanyahu welcomed her decision, calling her joining the Likud "a natural connection, since you believe in the things that we believe in, in the security of Israel, in the land of Israel and the heritage of Israel. I'm sure that you can contribute a lot to us."
