Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told those in attendance at Sunday afternoon's official memorial observance for assassinated prime minister Yitzchak Rabin, "Tremendous upheaval is taking place around us in historical dimensions. Already during the Rabin era, Iran began to emerge as a threat to Israel and the region. Rabin clearly recognized this threat in the making. Since then, Iran has systematically continued its plan to acquire nuclear weapons."
Netanyahu continued, "Rabin understood that the guarantee for our security is, first of all, our ability to defend ourselves. If we are weak, nobody will take us into account and our enemies will not accept our existence."
