The murder of then-Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin was one of the greatest crimes in modern Israeli history and a “stain on Zionism,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday. “It went down – and will go down - in Israeli history like the traumatic events of ancient times,” he said. “The murder of Gedalyahu ben Ahikam is an example often raised, and rightly so.
“This murder demands that we defend Israeli democracy, protect free speech and vehemently reject any type of violence,” he continued.
Netanyahu spoke at the beginning of Sunday’s cabinet session.
