While most MKs and ministers responded to a rocket onslaught Wednesday morning by calling to hit Gaza’s terrorist leaders and infrastructure, MK Dov Henin of the communist party Hadash suggested a different approach – working for an immediate ceasefire.
“The residents of the south I spoke with describe a serious and dangerous escalation,” he said. “This path is familiar – a crazy spiral of assassinations in Gaza, Kassams, explosions and shelling. The results are familiar – wounded, destruction, more hate and despair: the fuel for the fire in the next round.”
“Maybe this time we should stop at the beginning, before more unnecessary suffering, and reach a ceasefire here and now?” he said.
