MK Danny Danon responded to the EU's condemnation of Israel's plan to build in Gilo, saying, "It seems that an anti-Israel wind is blowing throughout the European Union. The status of Gilo is the same as the status of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and there seem to be conflicting definitions of reality as the opposition voiced by the EU indicates ignorance on the one hand and anti-Israel sentiments on the other. For every condemnation by the EU we should respond by doubling the amount of construction and we should make it clear to all those in Gilo, Judea and Samaria that they are an indespensable part of Israel."

Danon then turned to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and demanded the cancellation of a future visit of EU representatives to Israel, saying, "We must make it clear to the EU and the world that anyone who challenges the legitimacy of the territory of the State of Israel will receive the same treatment in return and their diplomatic status will be significantly damaged. Just as Brussels is a city in Belgium and Marseille is a city in France, so too is Gilo a legitimate and central neighborhood of Jerusalem, the capital of Israel."
