Scores were down significantly in achievement tests given to eighth graders in Israel. Grades were down in almost every category, including Hebrew, English, math, science and technology. The only area in which scores rose was Arabic.
Grades were down in the fifth grade achievement tests for math and technology as well, but there was a slght rise in tests for Hebrew and English. Along with the test scores, the Education Ministry said that half of the students polled said that at least half of the school administrations in the country basically ignored their problems and suggestions for improvement.
