Former president Moshe Katzav, in prison for convictions on rape, sexual assault, harassment and obstruction of justice, has applied to President Shim'on Peres for a pardon, according to a Monday-morning report by the Ha'aretz daily. The application was sent to the Justice Ministry about ten months into Katzav's seven-year sentence.
The chances of the request being accepted are viewed as slim because Katzav has never admitted guilt or expressed regret.
